Blogiversary And The New Year
So, this blog is now six years old. I don’t think I would have ever guessed, from the tumultuous start of these diaries, that I’d still be at it six years later. The observant reader may note that my archives start in March 2004 – but I actually started this blog in January 2004, amidst some serious upheval in my life. Those first few entries are no more – if you know where to look in internet archives, you can likely find them (the internet remembers, after all). At any rate – happy birthday to my Red Sneaker Diaries. They’ve been good to me; they’ve been good for me. And I think, based on the feedback I’ve gotten over the years, they’ve been good for my readers – the wankers, the toy shoppers, and the curious. So, here’s to continued goodness and continued hotness.
Onwards. So, it’s a new year. This new year is, in many ways, a new start in my life. Roi and I have moved countries – we no longer reside on the wet coast of Canada. We lived there for decades, so this is actually a pretty big deal, all things considered. More so for me than for Roi – literally 80% of my life so far was spent in Vancouver, Canada. Wow right? With this life upheaval comes some truths about what the next year will hold. I am not one for resolutions, but there are some things that will be happening this year – it’s going to be a big one. Ready?
In 2010 I will…
1)Defend my doctorate.
2)Get an honest to god real job. No more listing “student†as my occupation.
3)Start a family, or maybe more accurately, start to try and have a family.
4)Turn 30 (shit!)
In 2010 I have already…
1)Bought my first car (look, ok, I am a bit of a tree hugger and was able to get by quite easily with car sharing and bussing in Vancouver)
2)Become an ex-pat and an immigrant
3)Become unemployed. For serious. I am not currently allowed to work.
In 2010, I will hopefully…
1)Join a new kink community and a new poly community
2)Get back into one of my life’s passions: SCUBA diving
3)Become a home owner
4)Make a new network of friendships
It’s going to be an interesting year, I think. For now, for these first few months, life is going to be about a lot of business as I continue to jump through all the hoops one must jump through when setting up life in the US. Wish me luck, amigos.
