Dr. Joel’s Stroking Power Pump

Recently, Roi was lucky enough to have a few men’s sex toys sent his way for review from the fabulous Tabu Toys. The first, “Dr. Joel’s Stroking Power Pump” was sort of a hit, yet sort of a miss. Forced to judge it on my standard five point scale, Roi gives this toy three stars.

In A Nutshell: A stroking, vibrating and pumping toy that promises the world and almost does exactly that.

What’s Awesome? It’s excellent as a pump – the suction is easy to control and the design is airtight. The vibrating bullet has a decent amount of power.

What’s Not So Awesome? It’s extremely difficult (perhaps impossible) to clean properly, and the stroking action is limited and not so effective. Finally, the toy takes four C cells.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

He Says…

This toy – which is my first pump, is an example of three good products getting mashed together to make one mediocre product. The bullet provides a good intensity of vibration, and the pump provides good suction and maintains the vacuum quite well. However, the stroking action is nothing to write home about. The sleeve that you insert your penis in is quite short and very tight, which results in the stroking action translating down the sleeve only as far as your head – while this is enjoyable, it left me wanting a longer stroke. The nail in the coffin, however, is that the stroking action results in the bullet vibe mashing into my head with every downward movement.

She Says…

Wow, what a chaotic toy! It’s huge and basically out of control with all its bells and whistles. There is nothing discreet about this toy – sound, size or otherwise. Yeah, it’s a pump, so the size is appropriate for that, and as a pump it does fare well. There’s a nice plastic handle with a good grip for control, and the cock barrel is rigid plastic with a TPR seal/inner sleeve. The bulb for pressurizing is attached by a very short connection to the plastic tube, and of course features a bleed valve. It seals very well and is easy to control. The vibration/stroking, however, just seems lame. The stroking gets lost quickly as the inner sleeve is very thin and is being “stroked” by having the bullet tug at the top of the sleeve. Likewise, the vibration is localized in the bullet, which isn’t exactly in contact with most/any of the cock.

The toy basically relies on the sleeve to transmit the stroking and vibrating. The inner sleeve is permanently affixed to the inner bullet and can’t be removed to aid in washing. I can’t figure out how to wash this toy – you can’t just fill it with water as the electronics are not really sealed up or anything – but how else do you clean out a non-removable sleeve. To me, this toy is a fail, and left to my own devices, I would have rated it even lower. Roi, however, says the pumping is nice and the non-stroking vibrating feels pleasant, thus feeling like it’s worthy of three stars.

This toy confuses me. Is it used before sex? Or is ti just to masturbate with?

That’s actually a good question. Pumps, as I understand, are sexual enhancers – some men use then in order to get an erection (pump, then put on a cock ring, and voila!), and some men really like the feeling of being all pumped up.

The stroking and vibrating action of this toy, however, could certainly be used to get off – however, its not really all that tight or nubby or anything so it doesn’t seem to be as potentially simulating as something more straight forward – like a masturbation sleeve.

Dr. Joel has made a name for himself promoting products for penile enlargement and erectile dysfunction, so my gut instinct about this toy is that the design is more for getting a man aroused enough to have sex – through pumping, plus then light stroking/vibration stimulation. Roi was able to use this to get off, but it took a while and he kept asking if he could just use his hand instead :)

I have to admit that the stroking is not all that but It did make me cum and it does feel good. I had to only put the head in and use the pump just slighty to pull the head in and then release the pressure and pull it almost off, once you get the hang of it, you explode.
